The initiatives of the United States Force Posture Initiatives are an extension of Australia`s defence alliance with the United States. The aim of these initiatives is to improve interoperability between Australian and US forces, provide opportunities for cooperation with indopapacive space partners, promote regional stability and better respond to disasters such as humanitarian assistance and disaster response. These initiatives are an important part of the Alliance and include the Marine Rotational Force – Darwin and Enhanced Air Cooperation. The initiatives are a joint commitment of Australia and the United States. Agreements and agreements between Australia and the United States between governments form the legal basis on which the initiatives have been put in place and under which they continue to work. At present, therefore, the focus is likely to focus on the development of MRF-D and the ABC on their objectives and on the maturation of the infrastructure and other measures necessary to support them. Even if it takes another decade, initiatives on the attitude of the armed forces will have achieved their goal. The agreement took longer than expected, not least because neither side wanted to pay for the new defence facilities in northern Australia. This issue appears to have been resolved and the President of the United States has acknowledged the Prime Minister`s recent commitment to fill the gaps in Australian defence funding. The Armed Forces Attitude Agreement formalizes existing plans to strengthen the rotation of U.S. Marine Corps troops through Darwin and begin trilateral military exercises in Southeast Asia. But it also lays the groundwork for new alliance defence initiatives, including deepening Australia`s commitment to ballistic defence. While we have tried to strengthen the U.S.
presence in the region, we have certainly succeeded: although the course has been uneven, the size and scale of the U.S. forces involved in the initiatives has increased further and, importantly, there is no evidence that the United States is benefiting from its commitment.
